We are still hard at work at the LAB as we speed to the holidays. We’ve been doing some great stuff with Fain & Tripp, Bressler, Eisenberg Agency, and lots of end of year housekeeping! We also have some great news to report soon….We can’t wait to let it out!
Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays!
The production “Papa” being shot in Atlanta called us with a problem. The problem for post that exists is that post is happening in Korea and the movie is being shot in the ‘ol ATL. Here comes LAB 601 with a high-speed Dailies transfer to allow “faster than fedex” transfer of their offline audio and video files directly and simultaneously to the audio and the editorial facility. 2-4hr’s of dailies are transmitted to the Korean facilities in only a couple of hours, way faster than snail or fast mail could do. So what’s the price on instant gratification? Well just give us a ring.
2 weeks ago the LAB helped the production What To Expect When You’re Expecting to bring a “Screen on the Green” style playback to Piedmont Park. We provided a HD playback system that was projected onto a 55ft screen in the middle of the park. Teamed up with Outdoor Movies and their expert crew headed up by Shane Spruill, we gave the production a fault-proof system for the production and their hundreds of crew and talent. A perk though was after our projection duties wrapped we were able to show some demo shots of “Human Flight 3D” (in 2d) on the big screen while production was setting up for a different shot. It looked great and got huge shout-outs from the crew and cast. We know the wait has been long but hold out this will be a great experience when it’s finished.
Oh, and Elizabeth Banks in this park scene is pretty funny, she’s awesome! Who knows if the bloomers will make it into the cut…
Filmaker Milford Thomas is working to put together a new film and looking to potentially use digital capture devices. This would not be a big leap for many, but for a film media veteran, this is new territory. We’ve done some ‘looks’ for his digitally lensed footage and next week will be able to do some side-by-side with the film counterpart of his tests. There are some great efficiencies with shooting digital, but there are some great things you can do with film without doing anything!
We’ve had all of our good friends at FAIN & TRIPP, Russ, Debbie, Donna, in for about a month now and we are sorry that about an hour of original programming we’ve all worked to create has been approved….because they’ve returned to their own offices- no funky lunches- internet memes mimicking-chocolate sweets eating-birthday cakes, and the rest. We also of course loved to have Linda Harding and Scott Lansing in to press their talent to work to make those awesome edits! It’s always a pleasure working with friends and we’ll see you soon.
